From Monday to Friday 'my bag' is my trusty Cambridge Satchel Company 15'' Classic Satchel in Vintage (a sort of tan colour) that Mr P gave me last Christmas. It's a 'Mary Poppins kind of bag' as it's not too big but can literally hold all the personal belongings I need to get through the day at school.

This is what it contains today...

My house and car keys

My iPad

My iPod

My phone (not preceded by the letter i)

A Percy Pig umbrella

Two purses - a Radley one with my bank cards that is bulging with receipts (and needs a good tidy up) and a Holly Hobby coin purse that my lovely friend Paula made and gave me for my last birthday

A small hairbrush

My sunglasses

My glasses in their Cath Kidston case

A small makeup bag (again Cath K) containing emergency items like tweezers, nail file, plasters, paracetamol, heartburn tablets, a mirror, throat sweets, tissues and hand gel

My school diary

My school notebook

Blue biros and a black gel pen

Some postcards I bought in Paperchase at the weekend

A DVD on teaching children talking skills that I was given at my course today

My Oyster card (funnily enough in a Cath K wallet)

Paul & Joe lipstick (17) and lip lacquer (07)

Tin of Vaseline

Chewing gum

The key for my desk at work on a lanyard with a whistle (not used at all this year)

In addition to this very long list of things in my satchel I also carry an extra bag for my lunch and another huge bag with resources, papers, planning and any books that I need to work from at home.  It's also not unusual for me to be carting round egg boxes, toothpaste tube boxes and kitchen roll tubes or anything else that can be used for junk modelling. (It's a good job I drive to work, I don't know how I'd manage lugging everything around by public transport even though I have some friends who do).

As you can see, I don't travel lightly. And if I find I'm missing something I get quite distressed and anxious even though I probably don't use everything every day. I just like to be prepared for every eventuality.

What is the item in your bag that you hate to be without? x

  1. Great list! And I love that the teacher has a traditional school satchel! I remember having one like that when I was little. X

  2. My goodness, I think you are can take credit for daily weight training by carrying all of those items! Lovely bag. I can never be without a camera; now that I have an iPhone, it does double duty nicely.

  3. I am amazed and impressed by how much you are able to fit into a satchel!! I have a smaller, yellow one and can just fit my filofax, purse and keys into it, and not a lot else. x
