Bright Lights, Calm Sea

The sun shone. The sea was blue.

We ate.
We played games.
We promenaded.

We watched the sun go down.

52 Lists / Seventeen

Joining in with Ema at Made In Hunters and her 52 Lists project.

This week: List the things that you are grateful for

Having the most special Mum and Dad ever

Meeting Mr P - my bestest friend - and staying best friends for life

Cats - my favourite companions: Sabrina and now Milly

Family - I may not have the biggest immediate family but I have a most amazing extended one

Friendship - I find it strange that in the last couple of years I haven't been the best at keeping in touch with friends and yet they are still lovely to me. They are simply fabulous.

Usually good health and the NHS for sorting me out when I was poorly
(I'm still feeling extremely tired and keep looking up pneumonia recovery but can't find anything.
Mr P keeps telling me it's because I'm lucky to be alive
but then again he's also been telling me that if I'd had pneumonia 100 years ago
he'd be ordering my coffin)

My feet - for letting me dance

Books - for allowing me to travel to different times and places

Living in the UK - such a beautiful place

Custard - especially when it's thick and cold

The variety of the seasons - because each one is awesome

Music - for casting spells on my emotions

Instagram - for seeing snapshots of so many different lives

Cups of tea - because it's always nice to always have something to look forward to

Back to school today and the weather's not so great.
Hope you're having a good one, whatever the weather! x

52 Lists / Sixteen

Joining in with Ema at Made In Hunters and her 52 Lists project.

This week: List your perfect weekend to do list

This will clearly have to be a school holiday weekend
where no planning, preparation or assessments needs to be done!

Wake up to a sunny morning with the birds singing outside
- read my Kindle in bed for a while accompanied by a nice cup of tea

Eat brunch in the garden

Go for a drive in the countryside, visit a farm shop and stop for a picnic lunch

Meet my godchildren for cuddles and giggles

Spend an hour on Pinterest/Instagram/catching up with my favourite blogs

Go to a tea dance

Head to a quiet beach, watch the sun go down and eat dinner, preferably some local seafood, chips with a glass of white wine or Elderflower cider, accompanied by friends and loved ones

Sit in the garden, listening to my favourite chill-out music and watch the fairy lights twinkle

Lie on the bed quietly, stroking the cat and listening to her purr

It seems that I'm already in a summer frame of mind as most of the activities
can only be enjoyed in nice weather!

Whatever you're up to this week, whether you're on school holidays or just working a 4-day week, enjoy the sunny sunshine! x

52 Lists / Fifteen

Joining in with Ema at Made In Hunters and her 52 Lists project.

This week: List the things that kick start your soul

Red sky sunrises or sunsets

Talking to cats in the street

Spending time with my growing godchildren

Being able to sing my favourite songs very loudly in our flat when there's no one around

The sight of the beautiful, rolling English countryside

The feeling of achieving something you've really worked hard for

Observing a child finally 'get' something you've been teaching them for a while

The thought of tea, cake and chatter with friends

Being awake and doing things early in the morning - feeling like you're getting an extra hour in the day

The sound of the sea

That feeling of newness and starting afresh at the start of each holiday, term, season, year, or when you buy a new notebook and all the pages are clean and not scrawled over
- it's the prospect that anything could happen

I've just started Easter Holidays so have two weeks and a day of relaxing, sorting myself out and getting myself ready for summer. If you are doing 'holidays' at the moment, I hope they're proving to be good even though were back to this typical April weather! x

Have a family of my own

Look after my parents well in their old age

Make a difference to the children I teach

Visit Boston again

Learn how to do a proper foxtrot

Meet my dear friend Shannon

Be able to paint my own nails

Not be such a worrier

Almost the weekend; hope you have a good one. x
