February

February is my month of waiting:

For celebrations – Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Birthdays.
Brightness amongst the last dark, cold days of winter.

For the first warm yellow daffodils to appear from the soil as hard a stone.

For the day you can wear one less layer or leave your hat, scarf and gloves at home.

To make the first forced rhubarb crumble to be enjoyed with hot, thick, creamy custard.

For the day you wake up and it’s light outside.

For the evening you look at your watch at 5.30pm and the sun hasn’t quite set.

For our new bed to be delivered and redecorating our bedroom so it feels like ours again.*

To hear about new opportunities, crossing fingers and wishing for dreams to come true.

But most exciting of all, I am waiting for the imminent arrival of two lovely babies and hoping that they have a very safe landing.

What are you eagerly anticipating this February?

* I will explain more about this in my next post.

  1. Sadly, we won't be shedding any layers here for at least a couple of months. But I do look forward to more light each day. My boys are all very excited for the super bowl next Sunday, and I am planning some special snacks for them!

  3. I am eagerly anticipating the end of February, so we move into March, with Spring just around the corner. It looks like I may have lost my rhubarb crown after all the rain and snow we have had this winter? So any rhubarb for crumbles I shall have to buy. Two lovely babies, safe landing? Very intriging. x

  4. Babies? Cats or real babies?! Hey, been a long time - popped over to say hi too - I tried to seek you out the other day but my computer has been having issues and I could not for some reason. You still at the same job? I'm back in mine too! Going to look at your post below...looks interesting! xxx
